Dr Sam Gamsu ADC BDS (Witwatersrand)
Dr Sam graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1985 and received the Award for Merit in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery, as well as the award for Oral Medicine.
Wanting a better life for his family and after being hijacked once too often, the Gamsu’s migrated to Melbourne from South Africa in 1997. Dr Sam joined Dr David Casper becoming a Principal Partner of Mint Dental.
Dr Sam is passionate about all aspects of dental care, which he provides with precision, patience and a gentle touch. He enjoys working with children, adults and elderly alike.
Outside of dentistry Dr Sam is married and has three children (who won’t leave home) 2 dogs and a cat. In his free time, Dr Sam is in the gym, walking the dogs or traveling abroad visiting family.
Dr Marianne Kagiaros BDSc (Melbourne)
Marianne graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Melbourne in 1991. After completing her studies she spent 3 years in country Victoria in private practice where she was able to work with and gain valuable experience from visiting paediatric specialists, oral surgeons, periodontists and endodontists. She is often advancing and updating her skills and knowledge, regularly undertaking continuing education courses. Marianne has also worked in highly esteemed practices in Brighton and Beaumaris.
Since joining the Mint Dental Malvern in 1996, Marianne has developed an intimate knowledge of local families and their needs. She has a vast knowledge of general dentistry with a particular focus on preventative practice. Her approach to dentistry is gentle and caring and is perfectly suited in treating anxious patients and children.
Outside of work Marianne loves spending time with her family and keeping fit.
Dr James Meurant
Dr James has worked in both Public and Private sectors of the Dental industry, and has a wide range of experience in General Dentistry.
James is skilled in restorative and cosmetic dentistry however, still believes the best treatment a dentist can provide is Preventative Treatment.
Dr James focuses on working with patients to enable them to reduce their levels of decay and gum disease, setting them up for a lifetime of good dental health. Dr James enjoys treating children, people with special needs and forming good strong relationships with the patients of our practice.
James grew up in QLD and in his spare time, enjoys discovering all that Melbourne has to offer including the restaurants, cultural events and keeping fit through swimming and running.
Michelle Carthy AdvDip.Hyg (Adel) Gcert Dentistry (Adel) Dental Hygienist
Michelle began her dental career with the Australian Army, becoming a dental hygienist. After discharging, she went back to Adelaide to gain a Diploma in Dental Hygiene, then moved to Switzerland for the next 6 years to work with a Periodontist.
On her return to Australia, Michelle furthered her studies, gaining a graduate certification in Dentistry; providing advanced training in periodontal disease and prevention of tooth surface loss.
She has travelled interstate and worldwide to further her knowledge in gum disease management and hand instrumentation.
Michelle has over 26 years of dental experience and has now been part of the Mint Dental team for over 7 years. What she enjoys most about her role is being able to help people regain good oral health. Away from dentistry she enjoys activities such as horse riding, blues dancing, travelling and tinkering with cheese making.
